There are plenty of other lodging options available in Montauk or the Hamptons if you would like to stay elsewhere. We recommend booking these early as these options tend to fill up quickly and are pricier during the peak months.
Travel
Flights
Montauk is at the very eastern tip of Long Island; it is easiest to fly into JFK or LGA. Both are about a two-hour drive from Montauk depending on traffic.
If you fly into JFK, you can take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, where you can catch a Long Island Railroad train to Montauk or rent a car.
If you fly into LGA, your options are renting a car or taking the Hampton Jitney.
Rental Car
Car rentals are probably the easiest option for those flying in from out of town. Please note that there is a one-lane highway out east, so take traffic into account when heading in from New York City.
The Hampton Jitney
A very easy and comfortable way to get from New York City to the Hamptons if you do not plan to rent a car is to take the Jitney (or the Ambassador, which is an upgraded option by the same company with roomier seats + snacks / drinks). The Jitney runs about every hour out of the City, so there are plenty of options. We encourage you to purchase a prepaid seat in advance to ensure a space (select "Montauk" as end destination).
Once in Montauk or the Hamptons it is relatively easy to get around via Uber.
Long Island Railroad
There is also a train line out of NYC Penn Station that runs frequently and stops directly in Montauk.
